Your Team

Our Data Science team is responsible for turning data into services and products for XING. Around 20 Data scientists, architects and engineers work together to create highly scalable solutions that serve millions of users. We bring state-of-the-art algorithms into production by making use of technologies such as Hadoop (e.g. Hive, Spark), Akka, Kafka, Cassandra, elasticsearch, etc. At the moment, we are forming a new sub-team that aims at enriching XING’s data graph and developing new data services. For this new sub-team, we are seeking for Data Engineers who help with implementing data processing pipelines and data services that are used by in a variety of XING products. If you want to get things done rather than sit in meetings, like helping others and learning from them, you will have fun on our team!

Your Tasks

Solve challenging problems in the context of real-time processing, machine learning, Big Data, distributed systems
Write code for processing and analyzing large amounts of data and help designing new services and products
Implement smart data-driven algorithms and services using Scala and technologies such as Akka, elasticsearch, Kafka, Cassandra, Spark and other technologies from the Hadoop stack

Job Description

Main requirements

  • BSc or higher degree in Computer Science, Math or similar discipline

  • Solid programming skills in Scala/Java

  • At least two years of Software Engineering experience

  • Hands-on experience in processing large datasets (e.g. with SQL, Hive, etc.)

  • Experience in implementing scalable software that handles large datasets (e.g. with technologies from the Hadoop stack)

  • Proficient English language skills (German is not required)
